All sales are subject the following terms and conditions:
All prices quoted exclude VAT.
All goods remain the property of Cape Importers until paid for in full.
The customer consents to the jurisdiction of the Magistrates court irrespective of the amount involved. Cape Importers (herein after referred to as “CI”) reserves the right at its sole discretion to vary this provision.
CI are not responsible for losses or damages incurred by 3rd parties i.e. transport companies, railways and post office, even should they act as agent on behalf of CI.
Please note any credit for short deliveries will not be granted unless CI is advised in writing within 24 hours from receipt of goods.
Due to importing factors (ie. rates of exchanges and duties etc.) CI reserves the right to change prices without prior notice.
All orders are strictly pre-payment or cash on delivery, unless agreed to in writing by management. Any credit granted is strictly in accordance with further terms and conditions.
All stock is subject unsold and while stocks last
Delivery is free on order above R500 ex vat and within 40km of the respective CI branch or at the discretion of management.
Transport costs to areas out of this range will be calculated at time of dispatch and billed to customer. Customer may also arrange their own collection.


Printing on stock purchased from CI

50% deposit payable on artwork sign-off, balance payable prior to dispatch
Any samples requested by customer are for the customers account. If the print job is approved, sample cost be credited to customer account.
Production lead time is 15 working days from receipt of both : 50% deposit and artwork sign-off
Printed stock cannot be returned. Deposit is non refundable.

Printing on stock NOT purchased from CI ,the additional terms apply
We are not responsible for any breakages during the printing process.An estimated 10% extra should therefore be added to your final quantity to cover any breakages.


CI and its agents take no responsibility for any harm or damaged caused as a result of the improper use of any of the products marketed by CI. CI and its agents further take no responsibility for any harm or damage resulting from the failure to maintain the equipment in the standard as described in the user manual or as could be reasonably be expected.


What products are covered by the CI Warranty?

CI Products are divided into 2 categories namely Small and Electrical Appliances. Each category has different warranty terms.


What warranty is offered on smalls?
There is no warranty or guarantee on small wares, unless the product is faulty on delivery or of inferior production quality. In these circumstances, and at the sole discretion of CI, the customer shall be entitled to a replacement product or alternatively should no such replacement exist, a full credit.


What is the period of the warranty for electrical appliances?
Various products carry various warranty periods and conditions, please contact our office or your sales representative for further details.

What is covered by the warranty?
All failures or faults of the equipment are covered by the warranty except those expressly excluded in appendix 1.

When will a warranty be invalid?
A warranty shall be deemed invalid, without limiting the generality thereof, if the fault or failure is as a result of the following:
1.     The improper use of the product
2.     The use of incorrect voltages or faults in building wiring
3.     Failure to use the appliance in accordance with the operating instructions
4.     Should any person other than an approved CI service agent affect any repairs what so ever upon the product
5.     Or, as a result of any other cause/modification whatsoever
The decision as to whether the fault or failure is as a result of the above shall be at CI’s sole discretion.

How do I arrange for a repair of a machine under warranty?
Goods that require repair are divided into 2 categories:


These are counter top items that do not require professional installation that can be moved relatively easily. These items will be uplifted for repair and re-delivered by CI. (Collection by CI is free within 20km radius of the Cape Town and Johannesburg branches.) Please refer to Appendix 1 below for exclusions on warranty repairs.

The item shall be accompanied by a copy of the invoice on which the item was sold. The invoice shall reflect the item and the serial thereof.


Large Appliances items require professional installation and removal. In the event of a failure CI will send a technician or accredited repair agent to the customer’s premises to carry out the repair.

The customer shall contact their CI sales agent in order to arrange for a technician to be sent. The customer shall, prior to a technician being dispatched, email CI, a copy of the invoice on which the item was sold reflecting the serial number.

Although CI will take the greatest care to ensure all repairs are completed within 72 hours of approval, CI cannot be held responsible for delays due to factors including but not limited to availability of parts, availability of technicians or other factors lying outside CI’s control. Further, CI cannot be held liable for any loss of income or other harm suffered as a result of delay in repairing equipment.

Repair of a machine out of warranty?
An assessment fee for all out of warranty repairs at our Johannesburg and Cape Town branches where an assessment has been completed and the quotation has been declined. This fee will also apply to call outs where there is no product failure or there is a user fault.

The rates applicable are as follows for assessments:

Carry In assessment fee:
Any out of warranty carry-in-items will also have an assessment fee cost if the quotation has been declined.
This is a flat rate of R500 per assessment that will be reversed if the quote is approved.

Call-out assessment fee:
The rates applicable are as follow for offsite assessment:
0 – 40km : R625 flat rate
41 – 80km : R750 flat rate
80km + : Calculated at a R 450.00 per hour rate (minimum increments of half an hour)
: And R450 per hour assessment fee (minimum increments of half an hour)


1. Flexible hose
Any hose that is used to connect the stove to the gas system shall comply with SANS 1156-2 or BS 3212.

2. Gas cylinder
For best results we recommend that gas cylinders with a minimum capacity of 19kg be used.

3. Regulator
A 2,8 kPa LPG gas regulator which complies with SANS 1237 must be used. The bottle must be fitted with an approved regulator.

4. Gas appliances may only be installed by a registered LP Gas installer.

All registered installers are issued with a card carrying their registration number. Ask to be shown this card before allowing the installation work to commence and make note of the Installer QCC number. Upon completion of the installation, the installer is required to explain the operational details of the appliance together with the completion certificate. Pay particular attention to the operation of the isolation or shut-off valve in the gas supply line to the appliance. You should sign for acceptance of the installation when the installation is completed to your satisfaction. Please keep a copy of the certificate which may be required in the event of a warranty claim


Why does CI have a returns policy?

Whilst CI will continually strive to improve its service levels, the credit and exchange policy needs to be adhered to in order to minimize the negative impact that credit and returns may have on our stock replenishment and ordering systems.

Under what circumstances may I return goods to CI?

Goods may be returned to CI if they are faulty on arrival or if the following conditions are met:
Items may not be returned more than 7 days after their original delivery by CI.
Items must be unused.
Items must be complete and packed in their original packaging,
Items must be accompanied by a copy of the invoice upon which CI supplied the goods
The original packaging must be damage free,
All original packing materials, manuals, blank warranty cards and other accessories and documentation must be included in the original packaging,
CI reserves the right to impose a 15% handling fee or refuse to a credit on goods returned that do not comply with this policy.

What process must be followed in order to obtain a credit form CI?
Send a copy of your invoice by email to your sales representative/sales office.
Return the item to the CI central warehouses in Johannesburg or Cape Town immediately, ensuring a copy of the invoice is returned with the goods
Returns to CI from an outlying area via a 3rd party courier or transport company, will be for the customers sole account.
Should the customer fail to comply with the above mentioned conditions and processes, no credit will be passed or will any item be changed. The item sent for a credit or exchange will be returned to the customer at his own cost.
Any discrepancies including, but not limited to, the following list will result in the item being returned to the customer and neither credit nor replacement will be issued.
·        Items affixed with counterfeit labels or “own” label(s) or affixed with labels exhibiting tampering,
·        Items with any standard certification labels removed,
·        Selected Items with serial numbers which do not match the serial numbers on the package or invoice,
·        Any items that were sent back to CI without first contacting your CI sales representative and request an uplift,
It is important to note that buyouts, personalised or other customised items may not be returned for a refund unless considered faulty at time of delivery. CI shall at its sole discretion make judgement upon whether the item was faulty or of inferior quality.

What does our credit and returns policy cover?

Goods purchased from CI may, under certain circumstances, be returned and credited against the customers account.
These circumstances include:
Goods and equipment which are clearly damaged or defective or fails to work immediately after delivery or within a period of 7 days of delivery
CI will exchange a damaged item provided the damage is reported in writing within 24 hours of delivery
All damaged items must be returned to the CI warehouse immediately for inspection with relevant documents as mentioned above.
CI will exchange a defective item or alternatively credit your payment of the item provided it is returned with all of its original packaging and contents.
CI will exchange a damaged item provided that the item was not damaged by a third party courier.
CI will exchange or credit an item that was erroneously delivered to you with the correct item or will credit your payment provided the conditions contained in point above are met.


Electrical Equipment
PC boards, Motors, Elements, Contractors etc. The warranty for the parts as mentioned above can ONLY be honoured if the fault is due to normal parts failure.

The warranty does not extend to wearing parts such as blades, belts, bushes, etc.

Globes, fluorescent tubes, cutting units, clutches, fuses are not covered under warranty.

Warranty for any parts as above can NOT be honoured if the failure is due to damage, abuse, incorrect application or installation, i.e. power supply, water supply, drainage, gas supply, ventilation, inconsistent power supply, wrong set up of equipment etc.

Installation of equipment must be done by a qualified technician registered with a relevant accredited body.

Any work done by a 3rd party or non-authorised repair agent on equipment which is still in the warranty period will void any warranty claims. Under no circumstances should any power supply cable which is fitted to equipment be cut and joined with another cable to lengthen or repair it.

Proof of sale, which must reflect the serial number of the equipment, will be repaired under warranty at no charge.

Replacement of parts and repairs done will only carry a 3 month warranty.

Electrical & electronic parts and components are non-returnable

Spares purchased by a 3rd party are non-returnable

Specific exclusions

CI shall not be responsible for damages resulting from fire, flood, civil disturbances or any Act of God. The Company shall not, in terms of these warranties be responsible nor held liable for any consequential loss or damage of any kind caused by or due to the failure or malfunction of the appliance.

Rusted or corroded plates or grates and vitreous enamelware, are specifically excluded from these warranties. It is an express condition of these warranties that the customer takes due care and attention in the use and maintenance of the appliance.

CI does not accept responsibility for any damage due to incorrect installation or gas connection detailed above .
